History was made at New York Fashion Week today when a group of stunning models of all shapes and sizes took to the catwalk to model a collection of lingerie designed by plus-size model and body-positive campaigner Ashley Graham.
The size 16 model, 28, debuted her latest lingerie line for Canadian retailer Addition Elle on Tuesday afternoon, by both starring in and running the show alongside a cast of her fellow curvy models.
The holiday collection, entitled Black Orchid, includes black, blue and purple bras, corsets, underwear and more, all of which have been specifically designed to complement the curves of fuller-figured women.
Be a babe in Ashley's Addition Elle set
Wit woo! Ashley Graham certainly put the body shammers in the corner when she stepped onto the Addition Elle runway earlier today looking super sexy in a sheer lingerie set.
The brunette beauty looked confident as she strutted down the catwalk in a sultry balconet bra and high waist pants. It's easy to see why the Canadian company snapped her up as the face behind their latest range!
We love that the underwire bra comes with supportive full cups that provide beautiful full-figure lift, but we also think the strap accents and lace overlay details lend a very sexy finish. While none of the ladies walking in the runway show, which was hosted at KIA STYLE360, conformed to the stereotypical stick-thin model form, there was plenty of diversity on the catwalk, whether that be in size, shape or color.
Every model walked down the catwalk with complete confidence while wearing a pieces from the new ready-to-wear collection, which features teddies with sheer paneling, lace-lined satin bras, high-waisted panties and sultry corset combinations.
Some of the looks were modeled with shawls or fur that were draped delicately from the models' shoulders.
The runway show also featured several day wear items including baby doll dresses, tops, skirts and suede jackets.
The line has already received rave reviews in Canada and is now available on the US market at Nordstroms. This was the first time the brand has showed at the exclusive Fashion Week.
Body-positive activist Ashley is no stranger to groundbreaking modelling, having previously been the first plus-size model to grace the pages of Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue.
During the show, guests were encouraged to use the hashtag #IAmSizeSexy to promote body diversity at the event, which is usually dominated by slender models.
The idea seems to mirror another movement Ashley is involved in with plus-size retailer Lane Bryant's, the #PlusIsEqual campaign. Ashley and fellow models Candice Huffine, Precious Lee, Justine Legault, Sabina Karlsson and Georgia Pratt turned out to support the campaign at Times Square on Monday.
'[This is an] amazing, all-inclusive, high-end fashion campaign,' Ashley told the Huffington Post.
'Everyone deserves to see themselves being represented equally. #PlusIsEqual is showing that curvy women are accepted, they're represented and being made a priority in the fashion industry.'
While Addition Elle's show is by far the most body diverse show on the Fashion Week calendar, the seas of change are apparent elsewhere in the fashion world with plus-size models appearing on the walk for Zana Bayne and Chromat in recent years - Chromat included two at their show this year.
'We definitely still have more progress to make, but campaigns like this and #IAmSizeSexy are raising awareness for body diversity and continuing these great conversations,' said Ashley.
The campaigns are running in the midst of controversy incited by Victoria Beckham's latest runway show, which social media users dubbed the 'show of skeletons'.
The Sunday event, watched by Victoria's husband David Beckhan and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, featured painfully thin women despite the designer's 2010 vow to ban unhealthily thin models from her catwalk shows
